OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH PARENTS AND YOUTH

We will provide several tools to help parents and youth engage on Youth Group topics and teaching.  These will be available on our website and will include:

  • Recordings of each meeting’s message
  • Family discussion questions for the week
  • An introduction to the next meeting’s message
  • Next month’s topic and “Big Event”

OUR RESPONSE TO PUBLIC HEALTH CONCERNS

The “landscape” has changed quite a bit over this past year, and we plan to remain agile in our response to public health concerns, precautions, guidance, rules, and laws.  For the month of September, we are planning to hold our meetings outdoors, with limited use of the building for restrooms and administrative purposes.  We will address changing needs as the year progresses.  Some other precautions we will be implementing:

  •         Health self-screening before each meeting, event, or activity
  •         Adapting activities and seating to provide for physical distancing
  •         Increased cleaning and disinfecting of the building and equipment
  •         Maximizing the use of outdoors when practical
  •         Availability of hand sanitizer and soap, and emphasis on hygienic best practices
  •         Food/snacks/refreshments provided as pre-packaged or “grab-and-go” individual portions

Our Plan

This year, we plan to see what the Gospel has to say about nine monthly topics that affect our youth:

  • September: “Why Am I Here: The Meaning of Life”
  • October: “Is Truth Absolute, Relative, or an Illusion? Facts, Opinion, and Perspective”
  • November: “Why Am I So Down? Anxiety, Worry, and Depression”
  • December: “Why Can’t We All Get Along?: Relationships, Fights, Gossip, and Bullying”
  • January: “Does What I Believe Matter? Determining, Defining, and Defending My Faith and Values”
  • February: “Is God Truly Good? The Problems of Evil and Temptation”
  • March: “Who Am I? Identity: Exclusion or Embrace”
  • April: “Can I Forgive That? Truths and Misconceptions About Forgiveness”
  • May: “If All Your Friends Jumped Off A Cliff… Peer Pressure and Group Dynamics”

OUR MISSION

FCBC Youth Group exists to proclaim the Gospel and make disciple-making disciples.

Our Meetings

OUR MEETINGS

Each month will start off with a night that involves a “Big Event”- an activity or activities that get youth working and competing together. Click here for information on September 13th’s kickoff. Some possible events in future months include Radio-Controlled Car racing, “Master Chef,” talent/“un-talent” show, “Dude Perfect,” “Build-a-Chair,” “Destination Imagination,” and more. Parents are very welcome to join in watching and cheering on their youth during these events.

Each Big Event will be followed by a brief message intended to spark thoughts and conversations as we prepare for the following meetings in the month, where shorter activities will be followed by a deeper dive into what the Gospel has to say about the topic though focused music, prayer, testimonies, and Scripture-centered messages, as well as opportunities for youth to ask questions.
